Volunteers work to improve American Veterans Park in Ishpeming

Dan Perkins Construction held a volunteer day last week honoring community support and veterans by donating labor to campsites. Perkins instructed 20 crew members to leave their known job sites on the day before 9/11 and spend the day at the American Veterans Park in Ishpeming. Above, trim specialist Roscoe Schieler is seen. On the roof, installers Steve Loukala and Austin Prisk are hard at work while installers Felix Rodriguez-Acevedo and Orlando Aponte observe from the ground. Perkins told The Mining Journal he and his crew were happy to support people that have supported them as Americans. The crew volunteered the whole day by tearing down and constructing three roofs for the organizations. Perkins said, “We are providing all of the labor for free and we should be able to remove and replace all three roofs in one day.” (Photo courtesy of Dan Perkins)
