MARQUETTE — The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of those involved in a fatal accident that occurred Saturday along County Road 550 in Marquette Township.

The sheriff’s office has identified the two victims as Candice Marie Rajala, 41, of Marquette, and Eric Joseph Roycraft, 48, of Wrightstown, Wisconsin.

The crash happened around 12:55 a.m. Saturday near Wetmore Landing. Police said in a previous news release that a 2020 Tesla was traveling southbound on County Road 550 when it began veering off the roadway to the right. The vehicle struck a power pole and continued a short distance before coming to rest in the tree line. The vehicle caught fire and became engulfed in flames.

Police located Rajala and Roycraft inside the vehicle and both were pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

The road was closed for several hours while investigators reconstructed the scene. Alcohol and excessive speed are both believed to be factors in the crash, police said. The crash remains under investigation.
