SLEIGH RIDES FOR SALLY’S FUND

The Johnson family poses with the horse team of Rose, left, and Julie, during Sleigh Rides for Sally’s Fund on Sunday at the Up North Lodge in Gwinn. The family is Brad, Melinda and Logan Johnson. At far right is Jerry Melchiori, one of the sleigh drivers. Sunday’s charity sleigh ride was hosted by Melchiori’s Cold Springs Livery. The event date was chosen because it is National Horse Rescue Day. Sally’s Fund was created in memory of Sally Paajanen, who died tragically on Feb. 15, 2003. She was an avid horsewoman. Sally’s Fund offers equines throughout the region the protection they deserve, and it is managed by the Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter. For more information, visit upaws.org/sallysfund.
