MSP asks for help locating missing Saginaw County man

Karl Marker

SAGINAW — The Michigan State Police are seeking assistance in locating a downstate man who has been missing since Thursday.

Karl Adam Marker, 87, left his Kochville Township residence around 8 a.m. Thursday, according to a press release issued Monday by the Michigan State Police.

He was reportedly on his way to the Fashion Square Mall in Saginaw, where he would frequently go to walk for about an hour, police said.

When Marker did not return home, troopers responded to his residence around 9:50 a.m. that day.

Investigators received a tip Friday morning that directed them to the James Township Hall, where a person matching Marker’s description was seen asking directions to the mall.

“A statewide search has been active since Thursday morning and troopers have investigated and exhausted every investigative lead thus far,” the release states. “The Michigan State Police has conducted ground and air searches of the surrounding area and every possible route between Mr. Marker’s home and the mall.”

According to Marker’s family, he suffers from dementia, police said in the release.

Marker was last seen driving his light tan or silver 2011 GMC Savannah van bearing the license plate AUY500. Marker is 5’7″ and 185 pounds. He has blue eyes and grey hair.

“The Michigan State Police is looking to engage every citizen in the state to locate Mr. Marker,” police said in the release. “Mr. Marker may have traveled well outside of the Tri-City area. Please watch for him and/or his van.”

Anyone who sees Marker, his vehicle or has information is asked to contact the Michigan State Police Tri-City Post at 989-495-5555.

“We are hopeful, with your help, that we can safely reunite Mr. Marker with his family,” police said in the release.
