UPAWS seeking public assistance

GWINN — The Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter announced on its Facebook page on Friday it needs the public’s help after receiving a call from local authorities to help remove 40 felines from one home.

“This situation is overwhelming to us, one top of the animals we have already in our care,” it posted.

UPAWS said the medical cost of the antibiotics and treatment for ear mites and fleas is over $1,000, plus many felines need urgent care.

UPAWS is requesting: canned cat food of any type or brand, cat litter, clean old towels, stainless steel bowls and litter pans.

Visit its Facebook page to see its Amazon Cat Wish List link.

UPAWS is located at 815 S. State Highway M-553 in Sands Township.
