Drug bust reported

IRON RIVER — A 36-year-old man from Iron River was arrested Tuesday following an investigation into the delivery of heroin and methamphetamine in Iron River by detectives from the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team.

According to UPSET, the investigation had been ongoing over the past several months.

The identity of the man is being held until he is arraigned at a later date.

A related search warrant also was served by UPSET in Bates Township in Iron County Tuesday evening. The search warrant led to the seizure of crystal methamphetamine, a suspected drug-cutting agent, digital scales, suspected steroids and suspected prescription pills.

The suspect was lodged in the Iron County Jail on two counts of delivery of methamphetamine as well as charges of delivery of heroin, possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine and maintaining a drug house.

UPSET was assisted in the investigation by the Michigan State Police Iron Mountain Post and its K9 unit, the MSP Eighth District Hometown Security Team and the Iron County Sheriff’s Office.

Additional arrests are possible, and the investigation continues.
