Reading the classics

Sixth graders at Father Marquette Catholic Academy in Marquette are shown during a recent reading of the classics. “Reading the classics helps students attain a higher vocabulary, an understanding of earlier ways of life, and leads to incredible discussions about plot development,” school officials said. “Sixth graders learned effective summary methods in interactive Google slides and collaborated on character trait descriptions based on the people and dogs in The Call of the Wild by Jack London. This book is always a big favorite at school! It's fun to combine historically pertinent books with modern perspectives.”
