This February, I encourage you to enjoy our new streaming service Hoopla, which includes ebooks, audiobooks, music, TV, movies, kids content and more. This new service features all kinds of content, but this week I am showcasing some romantic features that are currently available. Visit www.hoopladigital.com to sign-up, if you do not already have an account.

“The Last Anniversary” by Liane Moriarty (eBook and audiobook) — If you are a fan of “Big Little Lies,” “Nine Perfect Strangers” or “Apples Never Fall,” this book is for you. Written by Liane Moriarty in 2020, this audiobook is about the one that got away. Sophie broke up with Thomas on the day he was planning to purpose. After the breakup, he then quickly found someone new; she did not. But when his aunt leaves Sophie her house when she passes, things take a turn for the complicated, and Sophie must make her own happy ending.

“His Girl Friday” (movie)– This classic is a great one to watch around Valentine’s Day. Staring Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell, this screwball comedy directed by Howard Hawks is quick and witty, and stands the test of time. The film centers on news editor Walter Burns, who is about to lose his ex-wife and top-notch reporter, Hildy Johnson. He insists they cover one last story together, a murder case, and as they cover it, hijinks, and romance, ensue.

“The End of Us” (movie) is timely movie about breaking up during the COVID-19 pandemic. Nick and Leah are about to break-up when the COVID-19 lockdown forces them to stay together, literally. As the lockdown continues, they realize that breaking up may be too hard to do. It is not only timely, but sweet and heartfelt. If you are looking for a film to help you work through some feelings about this pandemic, while still providing a laugh, this is the film for you. It will keep you entertained until the end.

“Love is Love is Love” (movie) features three different stories of love, interwoven together. This star-studded cast features Rosanna Arquette, Rita Wilson, Cybill Shepherd, and Kathy Baker. The first story follows a couple separated by distance, who must connect virtually. The second story follow a long-time married couple that has grown apart due to differing interests. The last story showcases a daughter gathering the friends of her mother after her mother’s passing. Watching so many powerhouse actors in one film is a treat.

“The Hating Game” (eBook, audiobook and movie soundtrack) — This book by Sally Thorne came out in 2021 and centers around the classic workplace story of two people going from hate to love. When two co-workers are competing for the same job, their rivalry is complicated by Lucy’s growing attraction to Joshua. As they compete, she falls for him more and more. While the plot is tried, the chemistry between the two main actors is true.

“Is there Sex Still in the City?” (eBook and audiobook) — From Candace Bushnell comes a new tale of sex and the city, this time focusing on dating and sex after 50. With the reboot of her most famous book turned TV series hitting the air (SATC’s “And Just Like That”), I think this book will be pretty popular. Tinder dates at 50, restorative plastic surgeries, and pre-menopause are just a few of the taboo subjects that Bushnell does not shy away from. Bushnell’s witty writing has a way of capturing NYC culture unlike anyone else. If you are feeling nostalgic for “Sex and the City,” this book is for you.

Credit-free borrowing is back for the month of February on Hoopla. Be sure to check their offerings to see what you can watch on top of your allotted four credits per month.
