Down memory lane with Mary Jayne

1 / 3
This past week, Munising celebrated the 30th Annual Michigan Ice Fest in the Pictured Rocks National Park. The attendance has steadily grown to over a thousand climbers from all areas of United States. Here we were fortunate to come across members of the Coast Guard meeting with National Park officials, no doubt readying themselves for rescue operations if needed. The rescue strategies must be truly unique with ice climbing, especially over open water and we are grateful for their service. (Photo courtesy of Mary Jayne Halifax)

This photo was taken a few years back when climbers were allowed to climb Munising Falls for a limited period of time. They were very friendly and enjoyed having a local in the picture. (Photo courtesy of Mary Jayne Halifax)

If you want a good view (from either the fishing shanty on the lake or from the Holiday Inn Express Lake view), this is it, overlooking Munising Bay. (Photo courtesy of Mary Jayne Halifax)
