Master gardener program offered

MARQUETTE — Aug. 27 is the registration deadline for the Michigan State University Extension Master Gardener Program that will be offered online via Zoom from Sept. 3 to Dec. 10.

The course will be offered online from 5:30-10 p.m. Thursdays except for the last class which will be face to face at a location to be determined.

People are invited to join other gardeners via an online format for this 14-week volunteer training program. Participants complete the classroom requirement, then volunteer for 40 hours in the community in order to become a certified Master Gardener.

The cost is $325. Partial scholarships are available and must be applied at the time of registration.

Steps to register: must have a high-speed internet connection and a computer/device with camera and microphone; application and registration link will be provided after the person has begun the Volunteer Selection Process by going to https://msu.samaritan.com/custom/502/#/volunteer home; and follow link to registration to complete application and pay.
