PWPL April Literacy/Activity Calendar, Kindergarten through 6th grade:
≤ Today: Milk fireworks. Put a cup of milk in a tray, drop a few colors of food coloring in it and use popsicle sticks dipped in laundry detergent to “firework” the colors.
≤ Thursday: Legos. Build an awesome invention out of Legos.
≤ Friday: Art windows. Make some beautiful spring pictures to hang in your window for people to see.
≤ Saturday: I spy. Make your own I spy pages, draw many small things on a sheet of paper and give it to someone to do.
≤ Sunday: Video call. Call grandma, grandpa, or another friend.
≤ Monday: Movie theatre. Have a family night, make tickets and “sell concessions.”
≤ Tuesday, April 14: T.P. creations. Save all of your T.P. tubes and figure out what you can make with them. Check the PWPL Facebook page for ideas.
≤ Wednesday, April 15: Start a family newspaper. Write stories about life, draw pictures, have a comics section and advertisements.
≤ Thursday, April 16: Filmographer. Try your hand making a video using a phone or tablet. Act it out and film it or try downloading a stop-motion app.
≤ Friday, April 17: Zoo day. Check out the live stream online from a zoo, such as the San Diego Zoo or Cincinnati Zoo.
≤ Saturday, April 18: Explorer. Head outside, pretend you are a great explorer. What can you find?
≤ Sunday, April 19: Make butter. Fill a jar halfway with whipping cream, put on the lid, shake repeatedly until there is no liquid remaining. You now have a ball of butter.
≤ Monday, April 20: Silly stories. Write a sentence or two on a piece of paper, hand it to someone, let them add a sentence and keep switching back and forth.
≤ Tuesday, April 21: Dancing corn. In a mason jar, still two cups of water with two tablespoons of baking soda, slowly add plain, uncooked popcorn kernels.
