Square dancing at Dance Zone
MARQUETTE — Contra and Old-time Square Dance is planned from 6:30-9 p.m. Sunday at Dance Zone, 1113 Lincoln Ave. (at College) in Marquette.
Everyone is invited to dance or just listen to the traditional music of All Strings Considered.
Haven’t danced before? Don’t worry. A caller will lead you through the steps. Contra dancing is one of the oldest forms of social dance, having enjoyed a couple of centuries of popularity in England, Ireland and France before finding its own American style.
This is a family-friendly event, suitable for all ages. Bring clean shoes to protect the dance floor as well and the dancers knees. Suggested donation: $5 per adult/$2 per student/child for the band.
