NMU choral concert Tuesday

MARQUETTE — The Northern Michigan University Department of Music will present a choral concert with a global theme at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Reynolds Recital Hall.

Titled “A Journey Around the World,” the choirs will perform music from several different countries, including Sweden, South Korea, the Philippines and more. Admission is free.

Lenten fish fries on tap

HARVEY — St. Louis the King Church will have Lenten Fish Fry from 4:30-7 p.m. Fridays Feb. 28, March 13, March 20 and April 3 at 264 Silver Creek Road, Harvey.

Fish, friendship and games are on the menu. The cost is $10 for a single or $25 for a family.

Night of music coming up

ISHPEMING — The 10th Annual Night of Music Concert is taking place Saturday.

This year the event is a “Leap Day Matinee” at 2 p.m. in the WC Peterson Auditorium at Ishpeming High School. Performances by Hematites in Harmony, Strictly Gospel, Kurt and Kim and more.

Tickets are $10 for adults and students are free. Those under age 13 must be accompanied by an adult.

Tickets are available at the following locations: TruNorth Credit Union, Elaine’s Place, Gauthier Insurance, Cognition Brewery and Rare Earth Goods. Tickets are available at the door, and doors open at 1:30 p.m.

This fundraising concert is hosted by the Ishpeming High School Alumni Association and all proceeds benefit their operation and annual scholarships.

Ladies Night Out in Baraga

L’ANSE — The Baraga County Chamber of Commerce presents: Ladies Night Out in downtown L’Anse from 4-8 p.m. May 1.

Anyone interested in having a business participate in Ladies Night Out who does not have a physical store located in downtown L’Anse can obtain space for a pop-up store.

MAPS kindergarten registration set

MARQUETTE — Marquette Area Public Schools announces its 2020-2021 kindergarten registration is coming soon. Registration for all four Marquette elementary schools will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. March 3 and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 4 at Northern Michigan University Whitman Hall, corner of Norway and Fair Avenue.

Anyone with an incoming kindergartner (child must be 5 years old on or before Dec. 1, 2020), is invited to register the child March 3 or March 4 at Whitman Hall. Bring the child’s certified birth certificate, immunization record and proof of residency. Children do not need to be present to register.
