UPHS welcomes Lemanek

ESCANABA — UP Health System-Doctors Park in Escanaba recently welcomed Leslie Lemanek, MD, to its Family Medicine team.

Lemanek earned her bachelor’s of science degree at Northern Michigan University before receiving her doctorate at the Wayne State University School of Medicine and completing the Family Residency Program at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center. She has served as a Family Medicine team physician since August 2015, providing health care for a patient panel of about 1,000 pediatric, adult and geriatric patients at the Bassett Army Community Hospital.

“I believe in a patient-centered approach to health care and feel that a good working relationship between a physician and their patients can help improve the quality of health care a patient receives,” Lemanek said. “I also stress the importance of preventative medicine and routine health screenings to prevent or identify and manage various medical conditions early.”

Lemanek is also a strong proponent of incorporating alternative therapies such as acupuncture, physical manipulative therapies, exercise therapies and more to augment traditional medical treatments, particularly for chronic conditions. In addition to those, she has special areas of interest in women’s health and the unique health care needs of the LGBT community.
