Clinical services symposium set

MARQUETTE — Northern Michigan University’s School of Clinical Sciences will present its inaugural Medical Laboratory Sciences and Molecular Genetics Symposium Sept. 26-28. The registration deadline is Friday.

The three-day event was organized to help raise awareness about medical laboratory sciences. Topics will include next-generation HPV vaccine, cytogenetics, animal models of neurotropic viruses, lab management, medical laboratory careers and a novel system for the detection of pathogens.

Marty Soehnlen, director of the Infectious Disease Division at the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, will deliver a keynote presentation titled “Molecular Diagnostics in the Laboratory: A Constant Path of Change.”

Other presentations will be given by faculty, alumni and students from NMU and other U.P. universities, as well as professionals from Mayo Clinic, Marshfield Clinic and UPHS-Marquette. For a detailed schedule, click here.

NMU has applied for approval as a provider of continuing education programs in the clinical laboratory sciences by the ASCLS P.A.C.E. Program. Attendees can earn up to 7 P.A.C.E. credits.
