Winery to host concert

BARK RIVER — The Funday Sunday Benefit Concert Series at Northern Sun Winery in Bark River concludes this Sunday with the lively and colorful music of U.P. Gumbo, who provide the perfect accompaniment to enjoy the vineyard’s locally inspired wine offerings.

Now in its fourth season, the popular Funday Sunday concert series at the U.P.’s premier estate vineyard wraps up with zydeco and New Orleans-style music with a Upper Peninsula twist, thanks to the popular Marquette group.

The concert begins at 4 p.m. and proceeds rain or shine. Early arrivals can spread blankets or set up their lawn chairs to enjoy the winery’s specialty wines from the tasting room or under the pergola overlooking the vineyard’s rolling hills.

A free vineyard and wine cellar tour begins at 3 p.m. prior to the concert. Visitors are welcome to bring a picnic lunch (no alcoholic beverage carry-ins permitted).

Co-hosting the concert and benefitting from proceeds is the Delta County Nonmotorized Trails organization. Tickets are $10 in advance, available at Northern Sun and the Delta County Chamber of Commerce in Escanaba. Purchased at vineyard on day of concert, tickets are $15.

For more information, contact Northern Sun at 906-399-9212 or visit www.northernsunwinery.com; check Facebook postings for Northern Sun Winery, too.

Northern Sun is located south of Bark River and U.S. 2 at 983 10th Road. Watch for directional signage from U.S. 2 and on southbound D Road (South Bark River Road).
