UPAWS ice cream social planned

SANDS TOWNSHIP — The Literacy Legacy Fund of Michigan and the Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter are joining together to co-host a community event, an ice cream social to promote the Read to your Shelter Pet Program.

This event is set from 3-6 p.m. Aug. 29 in UPAWS Community Room, 815 S. M-553, Gwinn.

The free event is open to the public. It will include an ice cream social, and children’s activities including learning about the Read to your Shelter Pet Program, the UPAWS Little Free Library, and a coloring book station. Each child in attendance can leave with a book (while supplies last).

Pre-registration is encouraged on Eventbrite or in-person at UPAWS.

Donations are encouraged for the Literacy Legacy Fund, a major sponsor of the 2019-2020 Read to your Shelter Pet Program. UPAWS will accept items from the Wish List on upaws.org.
