Curtis to mark Labor Day
CURTIS — The 11th annual Curtis Labor Day 3-Bridge Walk will take place between 8 a.m. and noon Sept. 2.
According to a release from the Three Lakes Area Fireworks Council, the walk will begin on Main Street between the Tally Ho and the Ship Wreck Inn and will offer a choice of walking distances from 3/4 of a mile to three and a half miles, depending on how many of Curtis’ three Portage Creek bridges a walker wishes to cross.
There is no charge for participating but there will be voluntary “toll booths” at the bridges and Curtis Labor Day 3-Bridge Walk T-shirts will be offered for sale. All proceeds go toward providing the fireworks that light the sky the evening of Curtis’s Fourth of July parade.
The Curtis Labor Day 3-Bridge Walk has been recognized and endorsed by the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness as a “quality event that significantly contributes to the health and well-being of Michigan residents.”
