‘Oklahoma!’ at Calumet Theatre

CALUMET — The Calumet Players celebrate 40 years of performing live theater with the fall production of “Oklahoma!,” a Rodgers and Hammerstein musical.

It was the pair’s first musical. It’s a love story set in a time of feuding between farmers and cowboys.

The performances will take place at the Historic Calumet Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 6, 7, 13 and 14 and at 2 p.m. Sept. 15.

Youth Day in Negaunee Sept. 7

NEGAUNEE — The Ishpeming-Negaunee-NICE Community Education Division is taking registrations for the annual Youth Day sponsored by the U.P. Whitetails Association of Marquette County and the Negaunee Rod and Gun Club.

This Youth Day is free to all youths ages 8-16 and will take place at the Negaunee Rod and Gun Club on Sept. 7, with registration starting at 8 a.m. Space is limited to the first 140 entries.

Events will include: air rifle, .22 rifle, archery, shotgun, and others. Prizes will be awarded in three age categories. Lunch will be provided at no cost.

Equipment and ammo provided. Archery equipment (in cases) permitted but no personal guns are allowed.

Parents who cannot attend will be asked to sign a permission slip at the Club. Children 8 and 9 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

This is not a hunter safety course.

Northern Vegans to host potluck

MARQUETTE — Join Northern Vegans for a vegan potluck dinner at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, in the Shiras Room on the second floor of the Peter White Public Library at 217 N. Front St. in Marquette.

Bring a vegan dish (no meat, dairy, or honey) to share, or consider a donation to the group if unable to bring some vegan food. All are welcome, no RSVP required.
