Free porch concert planned

MARQUETTE — Join Fayette State Park and celebrate its 60th Anniversary with a Front Porch Concert at the Historic Fayette Hotel from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday.

According to the park’s director, Randy Brown, “This is the first of a series of free events that will help us celebrate 60 years of Fayette State Park. It is unlike any other state park with its historic town-site. Located on Snail Shell Harbor, it’s surrounded by wilderness and is steeped in history.” Note, a park pass is required.

“Come on down and set a spell” on the front porch with singer and songwriter, Steve Hooper from “Under This Cold Sky.” Hopper’s combination of traditional and modern folk styles play a tribute the the to the land, the people, and the folklore of the Upper Peninsula. This concert is made possible free to the public through an ArtPlace America grant to the Central Upper Peninsula Planning and Development and with assistance from Fayette State Park, Delta County Economic Development Agency (EDA), Visit Escanaba, and Michigan Department of Transportation.
