Dreams presentation held Monday

MARQUETTE — Dreams, a presentation and open discussion will be held at 7 p.m. Monday in the first floor conference room of the Peter White Public Library in Marquette.

The presentation will review techniques to help recall dreams, seek inner guidance in dreams and interpret dreams. The focus will be on how to use dreams to improve your life. Genealogical Society hosts picnic

MARQUETTE — The Marquette County Genealogical Society will have its annual picnic on Wednesday, starting at 6:30 p.m. This is a family potluck so bring a dish to pass. Participants will meet at the ice cream pavilion at Presque Isle Park in Marquette.

Klava Klub set to meet Wednesday

MARQUETTE — At 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, the Peter White Public Library will host a meeting of its science fiction book group, Klava Klub, at The Crib, located at 401 N. Third St. Marquette.

For this meeting, the group will discuss John Scalzi’s novel “Old Man’s War.”

On his 75th birthday, John Perry joins the army. The Colonial Defense Force wants the knowledge and skill that older people can offer, with the incentive that two-year survivors earn a homestead on a habitable planet. Is it worth the price?

Food distribution event to be held

HARVEY — Marquette -Silver Creek Church and Silver Creek Thrift are teaming with Feeding America West Michigan to host a food distribution event.

On Thursday from 3-6 p.m., families from the community will have the opportunity to obtain much needed food. Participants are asked to bring a box if able. Silver Creek Church and Silver Creek Thrift are located at 219 Silver Creek Road in Harvey.

NAMI to host support group

MARQUETTE — The National Alliance on Mental Illness Alger/Marquette chapter will host a support group meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at 129 W. Baraga Ave., Marquette.

The meeting is open to individuals living with a mental illness and family members, friends and others who know someone with a mental illness.

Artist reception to be held in Curtis

CURTIS — An artist reception will be held 5:30-7:30 p.m. July 24 in the Waterfront Gallery at the Erickson Center for the Arts in Curtis.

Featured will be the artists behind the “Visions between the Lakes” exhibit, Cameron Wilcox and Karen Tembreull.

The event is free and open to the public, and will include refreshments.
