Blues history, guitar to be displayed

MARQUETTE — The Peter White Public Library and the Marquette Area Blues Society invite music lovers to a special weeknight concert: The History of Blues in America with Joey Leone at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Library’s Community Room on the lower level.

This one-hour program led by music historian and acclaimed guitarist Joey Leone, along with two other musicians, covers the history, influence and impact of American blues music through songs, stories and historical facts.

Joey also ties in his upbringing in Brooklyn NY, and how important the Public Library System was for his discovery, passion, and education about music and music history. Joey has toured as a sideman guitar player for many high profile artists including Etta James, The Coasters, Sam & Dave, Wilson Pickett, Chaka Khan, and many more.

There is no admission fee to attend thanks to sponsorship by the Marquette Area Blues Society and the Carroll Paul Memorial Trust Fund of the Peter White Public Library. For more information, visit www.pwpl.info or call 226-4318.
