‘Free Solo’ screening held July 1

MARQUETTE — DocuMonday presents a screening of the 2018 National Geographic documentary “Free Solo” at 7 p.m. July 1 in the Peter White Public Library’s Community Room on the lower level of the Library.

Directors Jimmy Chin and Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi follow Allex Honnold as he attempts to become the first man to scale El Capitan without a rope. Rated PG-13, this film runs 100 minutes.

Nominated for 45 awards, “Free Solo” won 21 including an Oscar for Best Documentary Feature.

Children’s art event held Monday

MARQUETTE — Join Marquette Maritime Museum and Liberty Children’s Art Project from 1-3 p.m. Monday for a free children’s art event to celebrate Marquette’s Art Week.

Plein Air painting is the act of painting outdoors and we will paint and create together outside the Museum (avoiding Lighthouse Park construction). Wear a paint shirt and prepare to get messy and have fun. All ages welcome but under 7 must be accompanied by an adult.

Business After Hours event set

NEGAUNEE — The Greater Ishpeming-Negaunee Area Chamber of Commerce announces its next Business After Hours event, hosted by the Negaunee Historical Society.

This casual networking event will take place from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Negaunee Historical Society Museum, 303 E. Main St. Enjoy prize drawings, appetizers, refreshments, tour the museum, and take the chance to sign up for a Negaunee Historical Society membership for the year.

There is ongoing construction in downtown Negaunee, but the museum is still accessible.

Business After Hours events are free and open to the public.
