Local food guide release party

MARQUETTE — Taste the Local Difference, a local food marketing agency, has produced two glossy magazine-style Guides to Local Food, one for northern MIchigan and another for southeast to mid-Michigan. A guide release party is scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. May 28 at the Ore Dock Brewing Co., 114 W. Spring St.

The guides feature a directory to farms, farmers markets, restaurants and other local food businesses alongside recipes and stories highlighting regional local food champions.

Celebrate Recovery program held

GWINN — Celebrate Recovery is a 12-step, Christ-centered, Biblical and balanced program that helps overcome hurts, hang-ups and habits.

The program meets Wednesdays (except holidays) at First Baptist Church of Gwinn, 195 N. Billings St., Gwinn from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Child care is available.

Volunteer training event June 4

MARQUETTE — Lake Superior Life Care & Hospice has scheduled its next volunteer training from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 4.

Lake Superior Life Care & Hospice is a 100% non-profit organization looking for volunteers that are interested in making friendly visits, providing caregiving relief, working in the veteran-to-veteran program, helping in Adult Day Service Program, working on community events, providing office support, music therapy, or pet therapy.
