Paws for a Cause event Saturday

MARQUETTE — The Students of the Upper Michigan Brain Tumor Center are raising funds to help cancer patients with an event called Paws for a Cause on Saturday.

Each year, these students assemble care packages for patients undergoing chemotherapy at UP Health System-Marquette. These baskets include items that are targeted toward the patient’s physical and mental well being. For example, items include; lotions, chapsticks, water bottles, and PICC line covers.

In addition, the packages include gift cards for activities to promote mental wellbeing such as movie theater gift cards, spa gift cards, and puzzle books. It is their priority to provide the best care packages possible to patients going through chemotherapy.

Paws for a Cause will be from 3-6 p.m. Saturday at the Animal Medical Center of Marquette, 3052 Wright St. Veterinary assistants performing nail trims for pets.

This event is donation based, and all profits will be utilized for patients’ care packages.

Anyone unable to attend this event who would still like to make a donation can drop off donations at the Animal Medical Center.
