Concert planned for March 12

MARQUETTE — Enjoy the jazzy tones of vocalist Kirsten Gustafson as she, Dave Ziegner on guitar, Harry South on bass, and Patrick Booth on sax welcome the upcoming spring season in this weeknight concert at the Peter White Public Library at 7 p.m. March 12 in the Library’s community room.

Gustafson began her career singing rock, pop and country in a band. After living in numerous states, she moved to Chicago in 1990 and signed with Atlantic records, releasing the jazz CD “You Finally Taught My Heart to Sing.” She returned to the Upper Peninsula around 15 years ago.

Ziegner, an accomplished bassist/guitarist/pianist and Marquette resident since 1993, is a founding member of Conga Se Menne, band leader of Combo Caliente and member of the Northern Michigan University Faculty Jazz Ensemble. In addition to performing, he teaches privately and has been an instructor during the summers for the Lakeside Strings Association.

South graduated from Northern Michigan University in 2013 with a degree in music and music education. He teaches bass, violin, and cello and performs with various local groups. He also works in the summer with the Superior String Alliance.

Booth, an accomplished saxophonist, composer, and adjunct professor at Michigan Tech, is a Marquette native who has toured extensively throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe. His latest CD “Stillness” is inspired by his experiences living and working in the Upper Peninsula.

There is no admission charge to attend thanks to sponsorship by the Carroll Paul Memorial Trust Fund of the Peter White Public Library. For more information, visit www.pwpl.info or call 226-4318.
