Barrel + Beam marking first year
MARQUETTE — Barrel + Beam, located at 260 Northwoods Road in Marquette Township, is celebrating its first year in business on Saturday.
The brewery, which focuses on farmhouse and barrel-aged beer, will host various activities from noon to 11 p.m. Madgoodies Studio artists will sell hand-printed Marquette craft beer maps, while a vinyl reception in which records will be spinned on request is set for 2 to 5 p.m.
A brewery tour, followed by limited release tastings, is set for 2 to 3 p.m. Music by Jim and Ray be from 6 to 9 p.m.
Clubhouse to host piano recital
MARQUETTE — The Lake Superior Piano Workshop presents its annual piano recital at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Federated Women’s Clubhouse, Ridge and Front streets, Marquette.
Admission is free, but free-will offerings are appreciated. A newly-commissioned piano work by world-renowned composer (and Marquette native) Thomas LaVoy will be premiered at this event.
Legion bean bag tourney Feb. 2
ISHPEMING — American Legion Post 114 in west Ishpeming is hosting a bean bag tournament Feb. 2.
Entry is $30 a two-person team, with food included. A cash bar will be available.
Registration is at noon and play starts at 1 p.m. This event is open to the public.

Ham radio swap event coming up
NEGAUNEE — Hiawatha Amateur Radio Association will be holding its annual Swap and Shop from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb.2 at the Negaunee Township Hall, 42 Highway M-35.
