Choral leadership prospects set
MARQUETTE — Every year the Marquette Choral Society considers whether and to whom to present annual Upper Peninsula Choral Leadership Awards, launched in 1991 in celebration of its then 20th anniversary.
The society invites nominations for this award, which must be submitted in writing and must show that the nominee has provided at least 10 years of service to choral music in the Upper Peninsula (excellence in teaching, conducting, and/or support for quality choral music are all considered). Awards may be presented posthumously; no more than two awards per year can be granted.
The deadline for nominations is Feb. 4. Send the nomination to: The Marquette Choral Society, c/o Dr. Erin Colwitz, NMU Music Department, 1401 Presque Isle Ave., Marquette, MI 49855.
Personal legacy workshops on tap
MARQUETTE — From 6-8 p.m. Monday in the Dandelion Cottage Room, the Peter White Public Library will be hosting the second of three drop-in Personal Legacy Workshops with Heather Mlsna.
In this second workshop, Heather will focus on the writing process, detailing the before, during and after of experiential writing. Other topics will include thoughts on reflective inclusion, with a nod to “plot,” transition, and voice.
With a background in writing and marketing, Heather is the owner/operator of Last Letters/No Regrets, a professional writing service. The goal of her service is to help people find healing and remembrance though writing.
Even if you missed the first workshop, feel free to attend this second one. There is no admission fee to attend this drop-in workshop.
