NARFE — The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association Chapter 1900 will meet at 1:30 p.m. The meeting will be in the conference room of the new Marquette Public Works building, 1100 Wright St. in Marquette. The group will tour the facility after their meeting. NARFE Chapter 1900 was chartered in 1983 and includes members from the Marquette, Escanaba, Rapid River, Ontonagon, Houghton and Hancock areas. Epidemics — the Marquette Regional History Center presents: Epidemics from 6:30-8 p.m.Throughout history many epidemics have threatened the region including polio, tuberculosis, influenza and diphtheria. AWANA — Bible Baptist Church in west Ishpeming announces the beginning of its 2018-2019 Awana program for children in kindergarten through sixth grade. The program is divided into clubs: The Sparks Club is for children age 5 through grade 2; and the Truth & Training Club (T & T) is for children grades 3 through 6. These Awana Clubs will be meeting on Wednesday nights from 6:30-8 p.m. starting Wednesday, Sept. 26.
