West End rummage sale coming up

ISHPEMING — The Greater Ishpeming-Negaunee Area Chamber of Commerce is preparing for a popular community event in the West End of Marquette County — the Town-Wide Rummage Sale.

This takes place June 8-10. The GINCC began this event in 2013 to unite communities and neighbors throughout western Marquette County, all while helping people purge their closets, garages, and storage units. The event has become a hit in the last few years with chamber members and community members alike.

How does it work? Think of it as one (nearly) county-wide garage sale. Residents of Ishpeming, Negaunee, Champion, Republic, Michigamme, and the surrounding townships are all welcome to participate.

For a $10 registration fee, residents can sign up to be put on a location list, which gets sectioned off into categories like “Downtown Ishpeming,” “Negaunee Township,” “West Ishpeming” or “Champion” to make sales easier to find.

In each section, the list will contain the location where each sale will take place, each sale’s top three items, and the days/hours each sale will run. Participants are free to set their own hours for their sales. Names, phone numbers, and email addresses will not be published.

The deadline to register for the Town-Wide Rummage Sale is June 1. The list of registered rummage sale locations will be made available at the chamber office and on the chamber website, once addresses are finalized.

Maps of the Ishpeming-Negaunee area will also be available at the chamber office and at local businesses.

There will be designated space available in the chamber parking lot for residents to use who may live too far from town to have a sale at their home. Those using the chamber parking lot must provide their own table(s).

The chamber office will not be open during the sale.

To sign up, go to gincc.org and download the form, stop in the chamber, email Gabi at ginccmarketing@gmail.com, call GINCC at 906-486-1111 or check out the Facebook page, www.facebook.com/GINCCTownwideRummageSale.
