Saturday

The Faith, Family & The Outdoors Festival — is planned at Presque Isle Park. All captains, teachers and the students who participated in the Salmon in the Classroom Program will meet at Upper Harbor boat launch, Presque Isle Park, Marquette, at 6 a.m. After a quick meeting and a prayer, the group will be heading out salmon fishing. At noon, boats return to Upper Harbor boat launch for pictures. From 12:30-5 p.m., food vendors are available near Upper Harbor Boat Launch. Then from 2-5 p.m., a faith-based motivational talk will be given by Hard Core Scripture Outdoors and there will be a concert featuring Josh Wilson. Lake Superior Zendo — Zazen (Zen Buddhist meditation) meets at 7:40 a.m., 8:30 a.m.; morning service at 9:10 a.m. Call 226-6407 for location and details.

Bake sale — Skandia Lioness annual bake sale from 9 a.m. to noon at the Skandia Community Center, 224 Kreiger Drive in Skandia. Tai Chi Chuan — An introductory workshop to the mind/body practice of Tai Chi Chuan will be from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Hope Connection Center, 927 W. Fair Ave. in Marquette. The workshop is sponsored by the Cedar Tree Institute, a nonprofit organization that provides services and initiates projects in the areas of mental health, religion, and the environment. Women’s Center benefit — Mother-Daughter Fundraiser Luncheon for the Women’s Center is planned from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Mather Inn, 107 E. Canda St., Ishpeming. Tickets are $15 per person. Lunch is by Midtown Bakery and Cafe. There will be speakers, a fashion show by The BoxCar Boutique and door prizes. All proceeds are being donated to the Women’s Center.
