The Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter announces 44North’s support of the Imagine the PAWSibilities Capital Campaign. During the holiday season, in lieu of client appreciation gifts, 44North conducted a Holiday Charitable Gift Survey. Members of the 44North team submitted stories of their favorite charities for clients to vote for their favorite. 44North has offices in Marquette, Cadillac, Saginaw and Grand Rapids, as well as clients throughout the state, all who were given an opportunity to vote for the Holiday Charitable Gift Survey, with UPAWS being chosen as the winner. Heather Haupt, who submitted the story on behalf of UPAWS, was ecstatic to find out it was chosen among all the clients as the favorite. “Two years ago, my life was forever changed by my sweet, silly Norm Kitty when my husband and I rescued him,” she said in a news release. “If you ask Norm, he’d say he rescued us, and he’d be right. He makes every day happier. Norman waited more than a year for a home and I’m forever grateful that he was at a no-kill shelter. If not, he likely would not have found his way to our family. When 44North presented the opportunity to nominate a charitable organization to receive $10,000, I jumped at the chance to help UPAWS. UPAWS does amazing work in our community by giving our fur babies another chance at a fur-ever family and loving them while they wait for that day to come.” With this gift, 44North and their clients have become an Imagine the PAWSibilties Business PAWtner, as well as a member of the Ten Friends Challenge. To date, UPAWS has raised over $2.85 million of the $3.7 million project to build an animal shelter that can be more than an animal shelter, it can be an animal community center. The campaign will retire 40-year-old facility that currently houses UPAWS and the 1,500 animals that come through the doors every year.
