News from UPAWS

The Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter is a part of the movement in redefining the shelter as a beacon of hope, a place where the environment contributes to successful adoption rates AND a place that engages the animal-loving community for a PAWSitive impact.

The Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter is getting closer to our goal to build an animal shelter that can be more than JUST an animal shelter- it can be an animal community center.

Imagine more opportunities for volunteers of all ages; humane education and animal empathy education; behavioral and safety training; the U.P.’s only shelter-run facility for the rescue and re-home of large and farm animals; kids camps; pet parties; and read to your shelter pet programs; and the community’s only year-round, off-leash, fenced-in dog park

Imagine the PAWSibilities.

Double the impact of your gift with the $100,000 matching gift in memory of Joan Steindler- a lover of golden retrievers and no-kill advocates.

We’ve already raised almost $40,000 and you can help, whether you are a business, an individual, a lover of animals, or a club or organization.

Will you help us raise $100,000 to get another $100,000?

UPAWS has raised $2.34M as part of their $3.7M campaign. Call (906) 475-6665 or email campaign@upaws.org to learn the new programs we will be able to offer.

To give, community members are encouraged to go to upaws.org, stop by the shelter, or send check or pledge to P.O. Box 968, Marquette, MI 49855 and mark it for the new shelter.

Stay tuned with our Imagine the PAWSibilities Campaign in The Mining Journal’s Superior Pets.
