IAHS fundraiser tour planned

ISHPEMING — The Ishpeming Area Historical Society will hold the annual “Historical Places and Interesting Spaces” (Historic tour) Fundraiser from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

An urban-style “loft” residence, a restored and meticulously decorated mid-century home, the Ishpeming Fire Hall and St John’s Church will be featured. There is to be a peek inside the Anderson Block on Main at Pearl. There will be refreshments and homemade goodies at St. John’s.

Advance tickets — each a $10 donation — will be available now at the museum, located on the third floor of the Gossard Building, and Main Street Antique Mall, as well as at Midtown Bakery and Cafe in Negaunee.

SERA luncheon RSVPs are due

ESCANABA — All state employee retirees are invited to an appreciation lunch for the State Employee Retirees Association from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 29.

Hosted by The Hantz Group, this luncheon will take place at the State Office Building’s conference room, 305 Ludington St, Escanaba. RSVP to Kit Pillifant at 906-226-7730 by Monday.

Vacation Bible School planned

MARQUETTE — Vacation Bible School at Prince of Peace Lutheran in Harvey, featuring staff from Fortune Lake Lutheran Camp, is set from Monday through June 30.

A special service with Fortune Lake staff will be at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. The daily VBS schedule is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through June 29 and from 9 a.m. to noon June 30. This camp is for those who have completed kindergarten through those who have completed sixth grade. Registration suggested by Thursday.

Zero Degrees art stroll on tap

MARQUETTE — Zero Degrees Artist Gallery (ZDG Gallery) at 525 N. Third St., Marquette, announces an Art Stroll Open House from 5 to 8 p.m. June 29.

The event will feature live blacksmithing demonstrations on the sidewalk outside by sculpture artist and ZDG gallery member Gordon Gearhart, who also has a window display of his unique creations.

The public is invited to attend. Light refreshments will be served on this lively and fun evening in the gallery and throughout downtown and Third Street.


Chamber fundraiser coming up

MUNISING — Tickets are now on sale for the annual Fireworks on the Bay Chamber Fundraiser, which takes place on the Fourth of July in Munising.

This event is held atop a Pictured Rocks Cruise boat and will board at 10:15 p.m. July 4. Tickets are $15 and are available at the Alger County Chamber of Commerce office, 129 E. Munising Ave., Munising, or by calling 906-387-2138.

In case of inclement weather, tickets will be honored the day of the fireworks.
