The Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter is getting closer to our goal to build an animal shelter that can be more than just an animal shelter- it can be an animal community center. UPAWS has raised over $2.2 million and we need your help to break ground in 2017.

UPAWS recently received a $100,000 matching gift for our Imagine the PAWSibilities Campaign for a new shelter. The matching gift is given by Martin Steindler, in memory of his wife, Joan. Joan was a long-time advocate for the no-kill movement and lover of golden retrievers. The Steindlers have spent many years coming to Marquette County during the summers and they have always been impressed with UPAWS”commitment to ‘take whoever walks in the door’.

UPAWS has spent 40 years finding homeless animals a new home but now UPAWS needs a new home. We are so close to breaking ground, will you help us get closer?
