Financial institution helps students ‘bank’ on their education

MARQUETTE — A local bank says when it comes to education, every donation counts. Range Bank’s annual school supply drive is back for its fourth year. The goal of the drive is to help local students start the school year ready to learn.

The bank is encouraging the community to support local schools by either dropping off donations of school supplies to any Range Bank location or by making monetary donations online at RangeBank.com through August 31st.

School supply donations will benefit local schools in the regions Range Bank serves. Over the past three years, Range Bank’s schools supply drive has donated over $25,000 worth of supplies to local schools.

Since 2015, Range Bank has donated over $60,000 to local schools through the School Spirit Debit Card program. The program has grown not only in the amount of monetary donations, but also the number of participating schools. It started with just one school and now supports fifteen districts throughout the Upper Peninsula. The Range Bank School Spirit debit card rewards a local school of your choice with a donation each time you use your debit card, and the debit card displays the logo of the school.

The Range Bank Financial Literacy program provides lessons and activities to high school students, in an effort to set them up for future financial success. Lessons are tailored to help students gain important life skills including budgeting, credit scores, identifying fraud and scams, and a reality fair in which students experience how to manage finances in the real world.
