Ty Koski

Hello everybody, my name is Ty Koski and I am the new Marketing and Events Coordinator for the Greater Ishpeming-Negaunee Area Chamber of Commerce. I’m honored to have an opportunity to help the community I was born and raised in while furthering my personal career. Living in the area my entire life, I have a deep appreciation for the area and I’m hoping to leave an impact on the West End.

A little about myself, I was born at Marquette General and raised in Negaunee. Even if you don’t know me, you probably know my grandpa, long-time Negaunee football coach, Dick Koski.

I graduated from Negaunee in 2017 and enrolled at Northern Michigan University shortly after. I wasn’t sure about my career path going into college, but after taking a couple Public Relations courses, taught by the amazing Tom Issacson and Jes Thompson, I knew PR was the field I wanted to pursue.

Community action and involvement wasn’t something I was too familiar with and learning about the many ways to help your community was eye-opening.

The pandemic hit during my Junior year and really shifted my involvement on campus and some senior year opportunities. Finishing my college career on a zoom chat with no in-person ceremony is not how I envisioned graduating, but we all had a big shakeup. After graduating, I bounced around trying different jobs in the area just to save up some money, then I found the listing for this position and knew I had to apply.

I’ve only been here a little over a month, but everybody has been incredibly welcoming and very supportive, so thank you to those who have already reached out. Helping the community is something I don’t take lightly, I really enjoy the area I grew up in, and although I’m a very small part of it, I look forward to serving the businesses and people that make up this great community.
