MARQUETTE — The Man’s Best Friend Art Show, which celebrates the U.P. 200 sled dog races, features artwork from Marquette Artist Collective members as well as community members. Dozens of pet-themed pieces in various mediums will be on display in The Gallery now through March 28. An artist’s reception will take place at 6:30 p.m. March 1. Proceeds from entry fees will benefit the Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter, said Taryn Okesson, a Marquette Artist Collective member. “The timing of UPAWS moving to its new facility, our exhibit being pet-themed, and the mission of the Marqette Artist Collective being involved in the community, it felt right to support UPAWS by donating,” Okesson said.
