Chamber Chat: An introduction from GINCC’s new intern

Elizabeth Williams

Hello all! My name is Elizabeth Williams and I am excited to introduce myself as the new marketing intern at the Greater Ishpeming-Negaunee Area Chamber of Commerce.

I am currently a senior at Westwood High School, originally from downstate Michigan. Since moving here four years ago, I have come to love the area and plan on calling it home for the foreseeable future.

Next year I will be attending Northern Michigan University to double major in Environmental Studies and Political Science. The Chamber will give me valuable insight into both the nonprofit world, as well as the business world, knowledge that I can take with me as I decide my future career.

In my time at Westwood I have been involved in cross country, swimming, track and field, Business Professionals of America, Spanish Club, the Student Advisory Committee, Yearbook, Student Council, and National Honor Society. Outside of school I enjoy cooking, participating in triathlons, and being a tourist locally.

Participating in local events has always made me appreciate Marquette County even more, from the Teal Lake Swim to the 4th of July Firecracker 5K at Al Quaal. I love communicating with the community at these events and greatly appreciate the volunteers who help put them together.

I have a passion for the outdoors and the West End that I believe makes me a perfect fit for the GINCC.

I am looking forward to the opportunities I will have with the Chamber, from running the @discoverthewestend Instagram page, creating a photo library of our beautiful area, communicating with and supporting local businesses, event coordination, working with the Member Directory, and discovering more about the West End and the role the Chamber plays in the community.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Elizabeth Williams is the intern at the GINCC. She currently resides in Ishpeming with her family and three dogs. She enjoys cooking, reading, running, swimming, and going out for ice cream.
