Vast hires 2 new team members

MARQUETTE — Vast in Marquette recently added two team members to its insurance agency.

Sadie Owen, a Marquette native, has joined the Commercial Insurance Team as an account manager. She received her bachelor’s degree from Northern Michigan University in marketing.

Jared Myers has joined the Benefits team as an account manager. He is from lower Michigan and a graduate of Northern Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in political science/international studies.

Vast is currently a team of 52 dedicated professionals in insurance and risk management. Vast provides Business and Group Insurance, focusing in manufacturing, construction/surety, transportation, health care, professional liability and senior living. Leadership changes at TruNorth

ISHPEMING — Longtime TruNorth Federal Credit Union President and CEO George Isola recently announced his retirement, effective at the end of the year.

TruNorth’s Board of Directors have selected Steve Smith as Isola’s successor. Smith has more than 30 years of financial institution experience and was recently CEO at Baraga County Federal Credit Union.

Isola has served as TruNorth’s chief executive for over 27 years, growing the institution from $29 million in assets to over $150 million today, a press release states.

“The highlight of my career will forever be our talented employees, supportive board of directors and our incredible members,” Isola said in the release. “I will always remember the important part they have played throughout my years at the credit union.”

TruNorth Board of Directors Chairman Tom Skrenes said: “We are very excited to have Steve Smith with us. He has a wealth of experience and a proven record of success at two credit unions in the Upper Peninsula. He knows our field of membership and he is dedicated to service as a priority.”
