Larson named marketing, communications director at UPHS

MARQUETTE — UP Health System recently announced the addition of Janell Larson as UPHS director of marketing and communications.

Larson earned her bachelor’s of science in business administration at Central Michigan University where she studied marketing and management, and brings 21 years of experience in the marketing field. She recently served as director of marketing at UP Rehab Services since 2009.

“I’m excited to be joining the caring and professional team at UP Health System and to have the opportunity to lead the marketing efforts of UPHS,” Larson said. “I’ve had the pleasure of assisting our health care system in marketing services and the exceptional care we provide to patients for many years.”

At UP Rehab Services, Larson coordinated the marketing efforts for the new Great Lakes Sports Medical Institute in Marquette. She also developed and maintained physician and health care provider relationships across the region; in addition to generating new referrals for rehabilitation facilities in Michigan and Wisconsin. She implemented service-line program development, strategic planning initiatives and marketing plans for multiple product lines.

She also previously served as community relations coordinator of sales and marketing for Marquette General Health System.

“I was born and raised in the U.P. I know the communities we serve and our culture,” said Larson, an Engadine native. “One of the unique qualities of the health care services in our region is the people who live and work here. We are blessed with extremely caring and thoughtful people in the U.P.”

Larson will oversee existing marketing and communication initiatives at UPHS-Bell, Marquette and Portage.

Outside of marketing, Larson is engaged in fitness and enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain biking, skiing and snowshoeing. She’s also passionate about mentoring and leading others, coaching sports, teaching swing dance and traveling with her family.
