UPHS-Marquette welcomes Benson

MARQUETTE — UP Health System-Marquette recently welcomed podiatrist Brad Benson, DPM.

Dr. Benson grew up in Marquette before earning his undergraduate degree at Northern Michigan University. He went to medical school at Kent State University and did his residency at St. Vincent Charity Medical Center/Case Western Reserve.

“My family and I had a strong pull (to) the area having grown up in Marquette,” Benson said in a news release. “My wife and I moved away to the city for medical school and residency training always knowing that we wanted to relocate back to a more rural area to help care for the community and raise our daughter. Marquette was the perfect place.

“The people of the community serviced by UPHS was the biggest draw when considering our relocation back to the U.P. As a local, I have a lot of pride in the area and having the privilege to serve the people of this community is an honor.”

Benson recently served as a podiatric medicine/surgery resident at St. Vincent Charity Medical Center. He is certified in basic life support and advanced cardiac life support, and he has an Ohio Medical Training License. Benson is also a member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, American Podiatric Medical Association and Ohio Foot and Ankle Medical Association.

“I believe in a ‘patient-first’ philosophy where the patient and I work as a team, along with other providers, when necessary, to provide the best care possible,” Benson said. “By placing the patient first and treating them as a whole, we are able to accomplish more than just the immediate problem that brought them into the office.”
