MARQUETTE — 906 Technologies continues to grow and expand — locally and beyond.

While many know the business for its quality computer and mobile device repair services, 906 Technologies responds to a wide range of technology-related requests from home and business customers.

“We of course offer repair services for phones and computers. That’s an important service to offer to the community,” said Kevin Hayes, Software Division Manager and Operations Manager of the company. “We have technicians in the office every weekday to do that type of work.”

From diagnostic services to data backup and recovery, computer work is a big part of what 906 Technologies does in its IT Repair Division. Alongside computer repair they have recently staffed up to meet the demand for repair services for iPhones and iPads as well as Android smartphones and tablets.

“Our largest division, servicing the Upper Peninsula from Ontonagon to St. Ignace, is the Hardware Division,” Hayes said. Joe Menze, CIO and head of the Hardware Division, stated that the company does everything including installing fiber optic networking cables in buildings and rural areas, setting up security cameras for businesses, configuring video surveillance systems, maintaining computer networks, and hosting client servers in a data center which is monitored 24/7 and compliant with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

“Basically, there’s nothing IT we don’t touch,” Menze added, which is important to anyone building a new business — both figuratively and literally. “We’re a one-stop shop. We can offer monthly maintenance for your computer networks, servers, and firewalls as well as your phone, camera, and card access control systems.”

Planning services offered by 906 Technologies help businesses ensure that their IT infrastructure is adequate for use today and in the predictable future. “It can be costly if you have to have someone come in after the building is complete to add or change infrastructure to meet the business needs,” Menze clarified. “We make sure you do the planning right so your business is where you want it to be technology-wise.”

The company, which continues to evolve and expand its hardware services, has been doing more construction projects with low voltage cabling recently, as well as running fiber optic networking cables in the region, providing higher quality internet accessto remote businesses and surrounding residences.

906 Technologies also has a Software Division that designs and develops websites, mobile applications for iOS and Android, and custom enterprise-level software to solve complex business needs.

“Our team enjoys the creative process and helping businesses maximize their online presence. Not limited by geographic barriers with software work, we collaborate with a diverse client base where we optimize their web sites for mobile devices, manage their domains, administer email services, and more,” Hayes commented.

In addition to the programming team at their home office, the company employs developers who work remotely to support their relationship with Credit Suisse and the State of Michigan. Recently, a 906 Technologies programmer with the State of Michigan lead the development of a web application built for the Department of Education which received a national award for significant positive impact on child nutrition programs.

906 Technologies is building on its past and always looking toward the future. “There is a lot of competition for some of these software services, but we’re right here to provide immediate service to our clients. We’ve been local since 2005 and will continue to be local,” Hayes stated.

The team at 906 Technologies offers all of this in one building. Hayes explained that the company can work with businesses in all aspects of technology, supporting them with the hardware and software they may need start to finish.

Several years ago, 906 Technologies moved into what was formerly the Marquette Township Hall along County Road 492, a bigger space which allows the company to have their team, inventory and equipment all at one site. “People are invited to come in to see what we’re all about.”

906 Technologies was named one of the Michigan 50 Companies to Watch by Michigan Celebrates Small Business awards program in 2013. This award is given to businesses that “tell a compelling story about the state’s diverse economic landscape.”
