Veridea Group welcomes Northcross Group as its first tenant in First National Bank Complex

MARQUETTE — Marquette-based real estate developer, Veridea Group, announced the move in of its first new tenant in its historic downtown First National Bank complex. Northcross Group, a leading national cybersecurity and business management agency with offices in Portland, Maine, and Arlington, Virginia, will open its third office in the renovated downtown Marquette building this month.

NCG’s Marquette office comes in conjunction with its previously announced academic partnership with Northern Michigan University’s Cybersecurity Institute.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Northcross,” said Michele Thomas, Veridea’s director of development, in a news release. “We’re confident this office space will facilitate their success in Marquette and the Upper Midwest, as well as enable their efforts in recruiting and retaining cybersecurity professionals in the Upper Peninsula.”

The completion of the Northcross Group suite marks the first phase of planned renovations to the 100-year-old property located in downtown Marquette.

Veridea purchased the property in January, with the goal of reviving the largely vacant complex as an office and retail center, officials said.

“The renovation of the Northcross suite was the first step in the revitalization of this property,” Thomas said. “Watching the office go from a dated, rather dreary space to a bright, modern, welcoming office was fantastic, and a great preview of what’s in store for the remainder of the complex.”

“NCG is proud to be part of Veridea’s historic First National Bank complex and able to use this new location as a foundation for our work with NMU’s Upper Peninsula’s Cybersecurity Institute and our business development efforts across the UP,” said Chris Bender, NCG’s president, in the release. “Historic preservation and adherence to the sense of place in a community are very important concepts for us. This new office is a great home for our current Marquette team and gives us room to expand in support of our regional and national growth.”

Thomas added that demolition and renovation plans for other areas are already in place, and only two tenant spaces remain available for lease.

“We’ve had tremendous response from the business community in securing leaseholds in the entire campus,” Thomas said. “People have been very supportive of our plans for the buildings.”
