Chamber Chat: We’re hiring at the GINCC
Are you looking for a fun job to showcase your organizational skills, knowledge of the area, and customer service? If so, we are hiring! We are searching for a Marketing & Events Coordinator. This position would be a great fit for someone who knows the West End like the back of their hand, loves this community, and has exceptional writing, organizational skills and customer service.
The Greater Ishpeming-Negaunee Area Chamber of Commerce is a nonprofit organization dedicated to building great businesses, great neighborhoods, and great places to experience Western Marquette County. The Marketing & Events Coordinator will work with the Executive Director to promote the West End community, local events, and increase membership.
This position will keep you on your toes as you help organize community events with other local organizations, field calls from community members or tourists, arrange networking opportunities, manage social media, and help maintain the office. You never know what will come up in the chamber world! Trust me, there’s an entire Facebook group filled with chamber employees from all over the country where we share funny day-to-day stories, templates, memes, successful events, and best practices.
You will work with a small, but efficient and effective staff in a clean, easy-going environment. You will be a self-starter, decision maker, and representative of the West End business community. This job may require some evening and the occasional weekend work.
A main component of this job will be assisting local business! The GINCC assists local businesses by setting up Business After Hours, promoting their events in media (traditional and social), creating promotional materials, helping with marketing or media relations, increasing community visibility, and more!
We are always open to new and innovative ideas or programs we can start implementing in the West End. If you or someone you know is creative and passionate about local business, let them know about this job!
The GINCC also focuses on community involvement and holds some events you might recognize like: West End Winter Wonderland, Vegas Goes to Ishpeming, Muddy Trail Scavenger Hunt, Chamber Children’s Carnival, GINCC Annual Dinner, Town-wide Rummage Sale, and other smaller events throughout the year.
To thrive in this position, some technological savvy is needed. You should be familiar with, willing to learn, or at least heard of Constant Contact, Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, Canva, Google Docs/Sheets/Forms, Instagram, and Facebook. We would love to eventually start incorporating Tik Tok into our social media strategy, so if you’re already Tik Tok famous, you’re HIRED (kidding!).
