Storm takes over Meemic office

Kyle Storm

After 26 years as an agent for Meemic Insurance, Dwight Johnson is retiring and passing his business on to Kyle Storm. Meemic Insurance began in 1950 when seven teachers sat around a kitchen table and envisioned an insurance company that would focus on the needs of the educational community.

Today the company continues to serve only clients employed by or retired from schools, as well as teaching hospitals. There are now over 80 agents throughout Michigan; including Iron Mountain, Escanaba, Chassell, Calumet, Sault Ste. Marie and Kinross, as well as Marquette.

Storm will be taking over the Marquette office at 310 W. Washington St. Suite 205, after serving as an insurance agent in the Copper Country. The office is located in the former St. John’s Rectory building with a huge church tower above it.

He is an NMU graduate with a bachelor’s degree in finance and a master’s degree in business administration. Storm was raised in Marquette and is a third generation insurance agent.

His grandfather, Aaron Storm, was a well-known State Farm agent for many years. Kyle is married with a newborn son and is anxious to become an active member of the Marquette community.

Outside of work he enjoys spending time with his family, hunting, fishing and staying active with hockey, baseball and golf.
