New at Peter White Public Library

What’s New at Peter White Public Library?

Tired of hearing the words “Just be positive!” Looking for some sort of guidance during these unprecedented times? Well, “The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck” by Mark Manson is here to give some enlightenment. This is not a traditional self-help book. It may seem off-putting and gritty at first but Monson gives some decent advice. It’s a quick read, funny, real, and a bit impressive at how honest he is.

“Field Guide to Cheese: How to Select, Enjoy, and Pair the World’s Best Cheeses” by Tristan Sicard covers the history of cheese, types, pairings, ingredients, and geography. The information is accompanied by realistic illustrations that look simply delicious, especially for cheese lovers. The graphs and guides pair well with the descriptions, like wine and cheese, creating a guide worth drooling over.

“Time lapse” by Benjamin Grant and Timothy Dougherty has stunning aerial photography that covers, as the title suggests, a time lapse above certain locations on the earth. The book is divided into sections of Civilization, Utilization, and Reaction. It’s amazing how much a space can change, whether from people, geography, or natural disaster and the photography captures it very well.

“Make Time for Creativity” by Brandon Stosuy is not only a guide to help channel artistic energies but also a journal prompt to help with ideas. In-between the journal sections are quotes from a multitude of artists, whether musicians, painters, singers, sculptors, etc. They talk about the different processes and thoughts on what art is, how to create it, and how different it can be for each person. The book asks questions to get the mind going and help understand personal processes on creating. It’s a good work book for someone who is suffering from artists block.
