4 Sentinels skiers win events at Marquette Invite

MARQUETTE — A quartet of Marquette skiers claimed the top spots in four events across the boys and girls meets at the Marquette Invitational in high school alpine skiing held on Jan. 12 at Marquette Mountain. The Sentinels swept to quite easy victories in both meets, scoring 26 points in both boys and girls meets. The Norway boys were runners-up in their meet with 66 points, while Ironwood scored 84 and Houghton 122. ESCANABA — High school bowlers doubled their fun — or at least their chance to throw strikes and pick up spares — at a marathon Upper Peninsula Bowling Conference meet held at the Bowl-A-Rama in Escanaba on Saturday. Usually two shifts of bowling are needed to get all conference teams in, but at this meet, all teams actually bowled two matches unless they had a scheduled bye. KINGSFORD — The Marquette Senior High School wrestling team finished runner-up among 16 teams at the Ray Mariucci Invitational held in Kingsford on Jan. 10. Four Sentinels reached championship matches, three coming away with titles — Trent Sadler, Beepsee Teeple and Connor D’Ambrosio.
