Families urged to get toddlers caught up on vaccines

Michigan health officials are encouraging parents during National Infant Immunization Week to make sure their children have all their vaccinations. That message takes on an added urgency this year with ongoing measles outbreaks nationwide, including Michigan, which reported new cases of the disease earlier this month. Montana joined the list Monday as the ninth state this year with an outbreak, defined as three or more cases, according to the Associated Press. National Drug Take Back Day is April 26

The Michigan State Police is once again taking part in a national initiative that encourages residents to dispose of expired, unused and unwanted prescription pills. All of MSP’s 31 posts will participate in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26. That includes the MSP Iron Mountain post, 1916 N. Sister cities program a great thing

The Marquette Area Sister Cities Partnership recently recognized Paulette Lindberg for her more than 40 years of service to the program, which celebrates the partnership between Marquette and its Japanese sister city Higashiomi. “I really appreciate the award,” said Lindberg. “I’ve received other such awards and this is a very big celebration.” Lindberg operated Adventure Travel and Tour from 1976 to 2003 and has been on the sister cities board since 1980.
