Richard Otto Renfors

He was born in Negaunee on July 16, 1935 to the late John and Vieno (Martinen) Renfors and was a lifelong area resident. He married Rosalie Wendt on December 1, 1956. Richard was employed by the City of Negaunee and CCI. In his younger years, he enjoyed ski jumping and cross country skiing. He was an avid sportsman, enjoying fishing, hunting, and trapping, all of which were his passion. He caught the Michigan State record whitefish weighing 12.8 pounds and measuring 31.7 inches in 1979. Richard put pride in his landscaping and vegetable and flower gardens. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He was loved and cared for throughout his entire illness by his wife and daughter, Connie.

Survivors include his wife, Rosalie Renfors, his children; daughter,Connie (Bruce) Langridge, of Ishpeming, son, Ricky Renfors of Negaunee, daughter, Bonnie Renfors of Ishpeming, son, Todd (Carla) Renfors of Negaunee, son, Kendall (Dawn) Renfors of Negaunee, and son, Jon Renfors of Negaunee, brother; Jack Renfors of Negaunee, grandchildren; Jesse (Michelle) Renfors, Amy (Ryan) Sjoholm, Amy Tammelin, Kelly (Dan) Iery, Justin Renfors, Quinn Renfors, and Kendra Renfors, great grandchildren; Kaydyn Iery, Owen Renfors, and Alex Renfors, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three sisters; Eleanor, Carol, and Norma (infant), grandson; Ricky Renfors Jr. and step grandson; Kristopher Tammelin.

The family would like to thank Dr. Prevost, the nurses, aides, and social worker at UP Home Health and Hospice. A private service will be held at a later date. He will be laid to rest in the Negaunee Cemetery.
